ABOUT ME

BEHIND THE LENS

I am a photographer who grew up in a time before television and the internet. Growing up in India my idea of a 'good picture' came from National Geographic and the luscious coffee table books of Raghubir Singh.

And for most of my life as an amateur photographer it was to South Asia that I returned again and again for inspiration.

In 2006 I started playing around with the camera on my Samsung phone. Over time my Canon DLSR was hardly touched.  This year I got rid of it; traded it in for a Canon G16 point and shoot.  But my instrument of choice is the iPhone with the Hipstamatic and Oggl apps.

On this site I only exhibit photos made with mobile phones (or iPad). My older collection of photographs that feature India and Pakistan and images made with my SLR are memorialized in various books available through Blurb.com

All images on this site are available for sale

I am on Facebook, Twitter (hd_nate) and Instagram (ajnabi1957).
